New Years Eve

Kia Ora.

It's New Years eve already here in New Zealand. Can you believe it, 2013 almost over all ready. Before I do another card challenge post I have to mention a quick challenge on The Ribbon Girl Challenge Blog. It's the Button Give Away just guess how many buttons are in the dish and leave a comment and a mention on your blog about their challenge to be in to win. I never guess correctly but it's worth a go lols.

I will be back later with another card challenge =^.^=

Quick Christmas

Kia Ora,

It may be sunny here in New Zealand but I have succumbed to "man flu" the gift that keeps on giving, with thanks to my Scrubby who passed this on to me.

With that in mind this is my last Christmas card as I'm now feeling just a weeny bit on the rough side. It's a quickie card because I had everything cut out and ready a little while ago so I only had to assemble this one to post it lols.

So, here goes, I'd like to enter the following card into the Totally Gorjuss Challenge 125 Quick Christmas

Quickly then… I used LOTV stamp and sentiment copic colored and paper pieced the little gal used spellbinders dies some ribbon and bling I got from ribbon girls and the DP is from Rosies Boutique.

Got to go now and get ready for work to spread around the gift that keeps on giving, cough cough sniff sniff, hopefully if I'm really good with the hand sanitizers and tissues I won't spread it around too much or even better I get sent home for some R&R.

Thanks for stopping by ,

Happy Christmas one and all

Winter Wishes.

Kia ora

From a less than sunny day in South Island New Zealand.

I bought an envelope punch board a couple of days ago so I thought I would give it a go with todays card, unfortunately I only have 6x6 DP papers so the size of card I had to make was predicated upon this fact, I ended up with a 4x3 inch card.

I used TGF Angel Anya who I think is a super cute image and paper pieced her dress and bow. The sentiment and snowflake is from TGF Keep Cozy stamp set and the DP is Peppermint Express from American Crafts.  I copic colored her skin and hair.

Card and matching envelope

I now have a great excuse to go and get some 8x8 DP pads to make bigger cards with  ;)

I'd like to enter this card into the ABC Christmas Challenge W for Winter Wishes.

I would like to enter today's card into the Totally Gorjuss Challenge 210 using 3 patterned papers.

The image is a Gorjuss image and is colored with my water color pencils. The sentiment is form LOTV. The die is a spellbinders die and the flowers, leaves and ribbon are from my stash. The Dp is Flea Market from Crate Paper. And as you can probably see this is an easel card.

That is all I have for today.

Pink and White

Kia Ora

From a baking hot day in the south of New Zealand. I have a card that I'd like to enter into the LOTV monthly challenge Pink and White. I have used the stamp Aimi with Lantern from LOTV and DP Flea Market from Crate Paper. I colored the stamp with my copics and listed them on a separate piece of paper and then I tidied up and voila no more list of copics used, lols. I made the ribbon roses from my stash ribbon and added some flat back pearls. The dies I used were spellbinders small circles and the doily die is from Couture creations, I painstakingly pierced the second lot of holes so that I could hand stitch around the die. It took about an hour all told and I nearly gave up halfway because it took so long. I don't know where the tag came from because it was on sale due to lack of packaging. And that's about it, so here's the card.

Delightfully Surprised

Kia ora

Today I am feeling delightfully surprised because my card Holy Light got picked for a Top 3 spot over at the  crafty little fairies challenge blog. I just want to say a big THANK YOU to them for picking my card.

I'd like to enters today's card in to the crafty little fairies challenge Top Of The Pops (inspired by a song)  the song that immediately came to my mind was 99 Red Balloons  this was an anti-nuclear protest song originally but later became the song that marked the Berlin wall coming down and ending the cold war. Who could ever forget such a momentous occasion.  So here is my card …

The image Patchwork Bunch of Balloons by LOTV was copic colored with ..
E - 31, 43, 49, 53 and w- 1, 3, 5, 7. and the balloons were paper pieced using the same DP as the background from Rosie's Studio. The sentiment stamp is Set 8 Happy Circular Sentiments also from LOTV.

Holy Light

Kia ora

From another gloriously warm day in New Zealand. We live 15km from the nearest shops and we don't have a car, we sold it when we moved on to the boat. We can catch a bus to the shops but we only get one an hour this far out, which is fine, but my neighbor can't imagine it so she gave me a lift today. It  was very kind of her, but it meant that I had to rush around and not take my time like I would normally do. Shopping has now become a day outing for me because there is no popping to the shops in the car lols. It's funny but it's how we shopped when we were little, Mum had to get the bus in to town or walk, luckily for her town was only 3km away from the house and the buses ran every 20 minutes.

Enough with the reminiscing and on to todays card.

I'd like to enter the following card in the Crafty Little Fairies Challenge Christmas in November.

I colored in this image Holy-Light from LOTV when I was still on the boat using my water color pencils and I think it came out all right. The DP is Peppermint Express by American Crafts and I got the idea for the card when I watched this video on youtube by Vicky Papaioannou. I've been watching her for a while now and I like what she does. This is a link to her blog

That's about it.

I'm Back

Kia Ora to all you lovely people out there in blog land.

I am back with a new card challenge from my home in New Zealand shock horror yes I know lols.

I have news, the first one being that my daughter just got married and the other is that I'm going to be a Nan for the second time in June. Now, if I only knew how then I'd insert a smiley face here.

Anyway without further ado here is my card

And I'd like to enter it into the challenge over at ABC Challenges Case any Past DT Member's card in this case (pun intended) I'm casing a card cased by Jackie who cased Lela's card (confused? you will be lols).

I know I won't make any southern hemisphere gals jealous right now but it might my northern hemisphere blog chums because  this is the scene outside my bedroom window today, it's a bit different from the view outside the yacht but that will have to wait until next year now ;)

All I can say is that it's great to be back home again if only for a few months, thanks for stopping by.

Ribbon & Lace: Festive Post.

Kia Ora,

From a cold and windy Cherbourg. It's an exciting day today because they are holding a triathlon event here. A sprint tri, a children's tri and a triathlon. I pity them in the water here in the harbor, the wind chill when they finish the swim must make this a very tough event today.

This will be my last crafting post for a few weeks because I have had to pack everything securely away while we wait for a weather window so we can sail on to either Guernsey or Jersey. We don't know which one it will be until we get there. Wind, tide and weather dictate everything in sailing. We make a plan and then plan for it to change!!!

I have stamped up a lot of images and kept my copics out of storage so at least I can color up some images while I'm waiting for the break in the weather. I have also kept out a sketch pad so I can practice drawing, this I am not very good at yet but I'm hoping that if I persevere then I'll get better at it. I may post some of my "art" at a later date but I am very shy about people seeing it. I can't take any criticism about it yet lols.

Anyway enough blathering, I'd like to enter today's card in the LOTV monthly challenge Ribbon and Lace. And guess what because I have packed everything away I can't remember what I have used with certainty but I'll try to the best of my memory (which isn't saying much!).

The image is Festive Post form LOTV
The sentiment is from a TGF set.
I made the roses from felt using the mini rolled roses die from MFT
I've used MFT dainty doily and spellbinders dies.
The DP might be from BoBunny!
Ribbon, lace and flat back pearls are from my stash.
The cardstock is Kraft and a purple from my stash.
I used copics to color the image.

I think that about covers everything for now.

The Celiac Iceberg (a non crafting post)

Kia Ora..

I'm always looking at the latest research into CD and this one was no real shock to me, when I think of people I know who complain about stomach pain etc..

An Australian-developed diagnostic test that includes genetic markers suggests coeliac disease is far more prevalent than previously thought.

The study involving over 2,500 randomly selected Victorians combined TG2 igA testing plus biopsy, as recommended in clinical guidelines, with genetic screening for HLADQ2.5, DQ8 and DQ2.2 genes, one of which is present in virtually all coeliac patients.

Over half the study participants had one of the genetic risk factors, the authors from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research found that ...

Coeliac disease potentially affected one in 60 Australian women and one in 80 men, study data revealed, contrasting with previous estimates that put prevalence at around one in 100.

You can read the study HERE  .......  One of the interesting thing about the study was that some of the participants with symptoms of CD actually had Crohn's disease and that's why diagnosis is such a good thing. I always advocate for a diagnosis rather than someone with symptoms of CD just putting themselves onto a GF diet.  I was diagnosed using what was the the "gold" standard testing, blood tests and small intestine biopsy. After years of pain it was good to eventually get the diagnosis, it only took 40 years and a change of country to get it lols.

No Flowers ....

Kia Ora

This is my second post of the day, because I can ...

I might even be a clever girl today because 2 of the host challenge blogs I join have no flowers as their theme of the week.. woo hoo ... this will be a first for me. I would like to enter the following card int the ABC42 Challenge and the Lili's Little Fairies Challenge ... No Flowers.

So as you can see no flowers, I kept this simple because I have to post it off today so it can get to my Niece for her 1st Birthday on Tuesday. Her name is Jorja.. (pretty isn't it). The image is LOTV Up in the Air.. the oh my stars is an I don't know and the diecuts are from a Deja View stack. I have used my water color pencils on the stamped image and the sky. Not much else to say apart from  (although you can't see it on the photograph) I used a glitter pen on his paws and the stars  and glossy accents on his nose and the patches on the balloons. I love this image because he is so quick to color.

From a relatively empty marina, we had a lot of boats leave this weekend. It must be getting towards the end of the summer holidays I should think. Who knows what's happening I surely don't.

I thought I would enter a card sketch challenge to try and sharpen up my craft somewhat so i'd like to enter the following card into MFT's Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge using Sketch 138. So straight into the card....

Ok so here is what I have used.. MFT, Pure Innocence Blooming good day, fishtail flags, lacy doily border, Copics, Spellbinders circle dies memento inks and Doodlebug Design paper pad flower box. Blue and purple card stock from my stash. I think that's about it for today.

It's all about the boys.. apparently so.

Kia Ora

I made it back to the boat from my run just before the rains came down, it's a good job I wasn't prevaricating today otherwise I'd have been soaked lols.

Todays card is going to be for my Nephew who celebrates his birthday on Christmas Day along with his twin sister, they are both as cute as buttons and much loved by the family. The light wasn't very good when I took the photo today but hey you can't have everything or so my Mum always says.

I"m entering the following into LLFs Challenge It's All About the Boys.

The stamp is LOTV By The River, I didn't use the whole stamp this time, I cut out the log sail boat. The DP is Deja Views little ones by Sharon Ann. I stamped the image using memento tuxedo black ink and I colored in the boy with copics and used spellbinders dies to cut out the image. The card is kraft card stock. I think that's about it..

ABC41, Lots of layers.

Kia Ora

From a sun drenched Cherbourg (doesn't happen often).

I'd like to enter todays card into the ABC41 Lots of layers Challenge. I have used a Wee Fairy Stamp. I love this gal she is so pretty. I have to say that I used a tutorial by Suzanne Dean for her wing coloring and very pretty it is too. I have done this card in the shabby/vintage style I had so much fun with the other day and as I've said before I need to expand my sentiments range of stamps because they're pretty woeful at the moment ..lols. So here is my card...

I think there are seven layers here, I'm not quite sure how to count the layers...

I've used copics, MFT and sizzix dies, the DP is desert blooms by first edition papers. I've used ranger distress ink frayed burlap and memento rich cocoa. The rest of the flowers etc are from my stash which is pretty low. Yesterday I went to a local haberdashers and purchased some more lace. I'm hoping that a local market is in town tomorrow because I shall be mooching and looking for some more finds to go on my cards... Shabby/vintage has entered my crafting space... lols.

Thanks for looking

P.S... when I've tidied up some, I'll post some photos of my crafting space just in case you're wondering what it looks like on a 36 foot sailing yacht.

Thanks for looking in.

Vintage/Shabby Chic

Kia Ora..

From the marina at Cherbourg on a day that doesn't know what it wants to do, happy or sad. It's been a sun shiny rainy day so far. I've left a little bit of the boat showing in the back ground , I usually take my photos on the companionway steps but I thought I'd move the card out into the cockpit to take todays photo, they say a change is as good as a rest lols.

I'd like to enter todays card into Lili's Little Fairies Vintage/Shabby Chic Challenge I admit I'm having a bit of a love affair with LOTV stamps at the moment, my bad, shhh don't tell the Scrubby.

I've never really sat down and thought what is vintage or shabby chic even but this is what I came up with..

The stamp is LOTV ..looking glass. I've used a paper I got in one of the local shops here and I think the brand is stamparia  but I couldn't see what the paper was called. I used a charm, lace, flat back pearls, ribbon and flowers that I've had in my stash for about a year now and I've almost run out, I'm not sure what I'll do about that yet. I would normally copic color the image but I didn't, I paper pieced her on a cream card stock and then just distressed her around the edges with ranger's vintage photo. I did however use C1 to put in some shadow around her wig and underneath her arm. I distressed the DP and did some faux stitching with a white gel pen.

The tag is cut out from the other side of the DP and the paper the image is mounted on is a tissue paper from the same company I mentioned before, I fussy cut it and then mounted it on card stock so I could raise it enough to go over the lace and ribbon.

Oh yes and I used Kraft card stock for the card base. I think that about covers it except for the fact that I've realised I really don't have many sentiment stamps I can use on cards, this is a situation that I intend to rectify real soon, maybe as soon as next month.... maybe..... if I can sneak them past the Scrubby .. know what I mean crafty gals ;)

Thanks for looking
